Education Station

The Hokie Horse Education Station at the Virginia Horse Festival

This area is designed to educate and ignite the interest of the public about the equine industry. Youth and adults are encouraged to participate in any activity! 

Activities Schedule

Hokie Horse Education Station Activity Descriptions:

Vendor Scavenger Hunt: This gives participants the opportunity to get out into the rest of the Virginia Horse Festival and see all the exciting things that are going on. We will be giving out sheets with a variety of questions from the different vendors. Depending on the age of the participants, there will be different numbers of questions to answer to get a prize.

Famous Horse ID: Participants can test their knowledge of famous horses, both old and new. They can see how many they know in this interactive activity and learn a lot of interesting facts along the way.

Kentucky derby Hats: Participants can decorate their own Kentucky Derby Hats with a variety of colorful decorations, and then they can take it home with them.

Pool Noodle Horses: Participants can make their own horse out of pool noodles, yarn , and a variety of other supplies.

Horseshoe Painting: Participants can decorate horse shoes in any way they want, and then take them home.

Farm Bureau’s Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom

Station Activity:

Horse Care Charm.  This charm will be created to help children know the factors of importance when caring for an animal including food, water, and the watchful eye of the equestrian.

Puzzle Station:

The Ag is Everywhere Map Puzzle will be available for children to use and discover where horses, their food, and other items grown in Virginia originate.
